Michael Zona is a Partner in BSG’s Communications Practice. He specializes in crisis communications, litigation and investigations support, reputation management, brand awareness, and strategic communications planning. His clients include Fortune 100 companies, startups, philanthropists, as well as trade associations and issue advocacy organizations. Michael brings an extensive policy communications background in finance, technology, healthcare, antitrust, trade, tax, energy, and government oversight.

A long-time Capitol Hill aide, Michael previously served as Communications Director for the Senate Finance Committee majority as well as Communications Director for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa. During his tenure as the Senate Finance Committee’s chief communicator, Congress passed historic pandemic relief and economic stimulus, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), a series of job-creating tax policies and major overhauls of the IRS and the U.S. retirement system. Michael also advised the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman on communications strategy during criminal justice reform legislative efforts, major Department of Justice investigations, and four Supreme Court nominations.

Before working on Capitol Hill, Michael was a spokesperson for the Marco Rubio for President campaign, managing communications strategy in 10 states, including the early voting states of New Hampshire and Nevada. He was previously Communications Director for the New Hampshire Republican Party and is a veteran of dozens of political campaigns throughout the Northeast and the Midwest.
