Research Associate – New Grad (Look Ahead Strategies)

Based in Washington, D.C., Look Ahead’s experienced professionals have worked on more than 500 political campaigns, issue advocacy efforts, and policy debates across the United States. Today, we bring that experience to help our clients address challenges with unique, comprehensive, and results-oriented strategies.

We are seeking a Research Associate to join our team!

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research using various sources—public news and records, social media, legislative databases, and more—to produce comprehensive reports that drive our clients’ polling, earned media, and paid media initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 0-1 years of experience through internships, fellowships, campaign work, or other relevant experience in politics, communications, finance, or a public affairs-related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for politics, news, and a curiosity that drives deep research and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in online research platforms and field research.
  • Ability to stay informed on the latest developments in political campaigns, legislation, and regulatory changes.
  • Skilled in identifying news angles and generating creative ideas for earned media and social media campaigns.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree, preferably in communications, political science, government affairs, economics, or related field.
  • Relevant experience interning or working in a legislative body, public interest, campaign, or grass-roots researcher role is highly preferred.
  • Ability to support research and communications work for conservative political campaigns, issue advocacy groups, and aligned organizations.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate ideas persuasively.
  • Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in online research tools and an eagerness to learn research databases such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, campaign finance databases, and other public record tools.
  • Be a creative, problem solver who can identify and address the unique needs of each client.
