May 24, 2023

 Description

Bullpen Strategy Group (BSG) is an insights-focused public affairs advocacy and strategic advisory firm specializing in analysis, communications strategy, and project management to help clients solve problems, grow, and manage risk.

With offices in Washington, D.C., Dallas, and London, BSG’s partners have spent years working at the center of the action where strategy, communications, and research merge. We’ve worked on some of the most high-profile political, corporate, and public policy challenges of the past decade. Today, we bring that same collaborative, all-hands approach to help our U.S. and international clients address challenges with unique, comprehensive, and results-oriented strategies.

We’re growing and seeking a new member for our communications team at the VP level who can service energy clients. We want a hardworking team member who approaches problems unconventionally, has a natural talent for writing, and has cultivated relationships across the media landscape. This is an ideal position for a communicator with experience in the energy industry who is looking to professionally grow – both in the practice of public affairs and in project management. Campaign, administration, journalism and agency experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Work with the BSG team to formulate and execute complex and creative public affairs programs for clients in the advocacy and energy industries.
  • Write and edit content and communications materials. This can include social media, press releases, op-eds, blog posts, story pitches, talking points, or backgrounders.
  • Ensure materials are approved internally and externally, track campaign progress, and assist in moving projects forward.
  • Oversee the posting of client social media, reporter list building, and other projects of associate-level staff.
  • Engage in national and project-specific state media relations, story pitching, and reporter outreach.
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with clients.
  • Create earned media moments and seize media opportunities and relationships to insert client issues into the news cycle.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree is required. Majors in communications, political science, journalism and related fields are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Relevant experience in a legislative body, public interest, campaign, or grass-roots researcher/policy role is highly preferred.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • This position requires strong writing skills, a professional demeanor, good knowledge of the national political and media environment, with high-level motivation and interest in aggressively engaging with media.
  • On-the-record experience is desired, but not required.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate ideas persuasively.
  • Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
